Renato Who? you ask.

I am a Brazilian designer based in London and I have been doing design (and internet) since a long long time. I have worked with several different companies, big (BBC, IBM, Nike, Sapient to name a few) and small and played several different roles including running my own studio in Brazil.

In the end I call myself a designer, after all, it is a good way to describe my approach to projects - I am passionate about design and the effect it has on how a service or object is perceived by people. I am specially passionate about finding and doing what I call "good design for positive things". I will be specially interested if you think your project links to that :-).

I believe in multidisciplinary teams with blurred skill boundaries and where creativity and solutions can come from every angle.
I myself try to incorporate a great range of skills and experiences into my design thinking. One of the reasons why I spend time making three-dimensional things and calligraphy amongst other things.

On the digital front, I am a strong believer (and practitioner) in code as a design tool. In days where gridsetting has migrated to frameworks, this has never been so important. In the end, the idea should dictate the tool, be it photoshop, keynote or pure and simple code.

My design philosophy is that every project should be approached with a good measure of curiosity and critical thinking. It is important to question and to try to step out of our bubble and into the user's shoe by research, prototyping and testing often.

If you think you have a project where my skills and experience can help, drop me a line at renato@relopes.net.
